Apply to play Kendal Calling!

News: 11th May 2021 by Stef Loukes under Live

Over the years, Kendal Calling has played host to some of the biggest homegrown artists in the UK. Whether it's EDM legend Calvin Harris, folk heroes Mumford and Sons or indie popstars The 1975, the festival has always championed the careers of emerging artists. This year proves no exception, as the festival is on the lookout for budding artists and musicians to take to the stage.

The festival’s apply-to-play service is available via the link below, and is open to any and all artists who wish to submit their music to the booking team until Friday 14th May. Successful artists will get the chance to play to thousands in the fields this year alongside household names such as Supergrass, Stereophonics and The Streets.

Ever conscious of planning for the future, Kendal Calling hopes its continued support of unsigned artists will help to nurture the next generation of festival headliners. Artists such as Jess Glynne, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Rag’n’Bone Man started out playing smaller stages at Kendal and have since worked their way to the top of the bill at events across the country.

Emma Zillman, festival booker, said: “I love listening to what comes in through artist applications; it's a great way to discover new talent. The smaller stages at the festival are always full of people who love to find new artists, so it's a great opportunity to pick up fans.”

The festival knows no limits when it comes to genres, sculpting different areas into their own musical worlds. Festival-goers are able to experience just about everything, from the singalong classics of the Main Stage to the afrobeat sounds of Chai Wallahs. While as the sun goes down, revellers can rave the night away to the biggest names in house, drum and bass and techno in the Glow tent.
