This week it was confirmed that the £2.25 million allocation of government funding, specifically ring-fenced to support grassroots music venues, has been increased to £3.36 million.
Currently the money is set to be distributed to 135 gig venues around the UK - and although this cash injection is hugely welcomed, as the Music Venue Trust have pointed out: "There is still a great deal of work to be done - this money only prevents the immediate collapse, it does not solve the long term issues presented by being unable to open in anything like an economically viable model for the foreseeable future."
