Off The Record music industry event returns to Edinburgh next month

News: 22nd November 2017 by Louise Dodgson under Music Training & Careers

Off The Record is to partner with Edinburgh youth music project Totally Sound and digital media project Reel Youth Media to host a day of presentations, seminars and round table discussions for 14-25 year olds interested in a career in music.

Taking place at Edinburgh’s South Bridge Resource Centre on Saturday 9th December, the event will focus on releasing tracks, organising/getting gigs, promotion, photography and job opportunities in the music business (for full programme, see links below).

Confirmed speakers include songwriter Ross Leighton (Fatherson), Nicky Carder (promoter/artist manager), Amy Ferguson (producer, BBC Radio Scotland) Chris Beltran (DF Concerts/Atlantic Records) and photographer Jannica Honey. They will be joined by Ally Gray and Toni Malyn from leading digital music distribution company, EmuBands and representatives from Totally Sound and Reel Youth Media. Additional guests are due to be confirmed before the end of the month.

Off The Record provides insights from a broad range of industry professionals and past attendees have picked up airplay (including BBC Radio Scotland), festival bookings and a range of work opportunities as a result of taking part.

Off The Record event manager Fraser Fulton had this to say: "We are really pleased to be able to offer one last Off The Record of 2017 following our sold out Edinburgh and Glasgow events. It is also really exciting to be delivering this Off The Record in partnership with Totally Sound and Reel Youth Media as both projects strive hard to help young creatives and have a lot to offer the Scottish music scene.”
