Could global music industry align weekly release dates?

Mondays are always the day in the UK you can get your hands on new album and single releases but across the world this differs greatly with the US releasing on Tuesdays and Germany, Australia and others releasing on Fridays. But this could be about to change universally to Friday and the IFPI are busy at work to implement this change which it is believed will help in the battle against piracy.
