New awards shine a light on managers & artists

The Featured Artists Coalition (FAC) and the MMF are pleased to announce the presentation of a new roster of awards on the UK music business calendar. The Artist and Manager Awards have been created to celebrate achievement at all levels of the music business. The awards website is at www.amawards.org
The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be staged at London’s home of contemporary music, The Roundhouse in Camden from 6pm on Tuesday 13 September 2011. This new event has evolved from the Roll of Honour award dinner staged by the MMF for 15 years.
The decision to create a joint awards event reflects the close working relationship of the two organizations. “Artists are at the centre of our industry now more than ever and the Artist and Manager Awards will be a night to remember and to celebrate that. There are obvious synergies between the MMF and the FAC and our coming together to jointly acknowledge both the achievements and hard work of our members seemed a natural fit” said Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) Co-Chair of the FAC. In addition, MMF CEO Jon Webster said, “We look forward to welcoming people to an event that embraces and celebrates artists and managers at all stages of development in their careers”.
Awards to be presented on the evening include First Rung and Breakthrough Awards, aimed at newcomers to the industry and mid level achievers respectively, with one award in each category for artists and managers. The Artists’ Artist award - to acknowledge the inspirational work of a music artist. The Peter Grant Award - for elevating the role and status of managers through achievement.
The ultimate accolade of the evening will be the presentation of the MMF and FAC Achievement Award for 2011. This award will be presented to represent both organisations’ joint acknowledgement of exceptional achievement in the artist and management communities.
Some of the awards such as the First Rung Award and Breakthrough awards will be open to both members and non members of the two organizations in a bid to fully embrace all those working in the music community. A further highlight of the awards ceremony will be performances by several different artists, each uniquely staged in the main space of the Roundhouse. Details of the performers are being particularly kept under wraps to add to the excitement on the night.
An additional aim of the event for the organisers is to ensure that artists and managers who have newly entered the music business and who are looking to develop a stronger network will have the opportunity to meet and greet some of the UK’s leading music executives and artists. Most tickets for the event will include dinner plus pre and post ceremony networking to help achieve this aim.
Announcements concerning the recipients of The Artists’ Artist and The Peter Grant Award, as well as further details of the event, will be made shortly.
Tickets can be purchased from the website below.
