Generator have begun the hunt for the North East’s best emerging music ahead of Evolution Emerging, an annual multi-venue event in Newcastle’s Ouseburn Valley which is taking place this year on Friday 27 May.
Last year’s Evolution Emerging gigs saw more than 1,200 people descend on six venues in the popular creative district of Newcastle to see more than 25 groups and solo artists from all genres.
Headliners in previous years have included Detroit Social Club and The Week That Was and have featured a special DJ set from Frankie & the Heartstrings and performances from Let’s Buy Happiness, Mammal Club, Ever Since the Lake Caught Fire, Razmataz Lorry Excitement and Nadine Shah.
To play at this year’s event, Generator have teamed up with SoundCloud to invite artists to submit one track each online at the website below.
Evolution Emerging was established in 2009 as an opener to the Evolution Weekender which takes place this year on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 May and is headlined by Iggy & The Stooges and Plan B with more acts confirmed including Tinie Tempah, Two Door Cinema Club and last year’s Evolution Emerging headliners Detroit Social Club.
Evolution Emerging aims to bring the best new North East talent to audiences who may uncover their new favourite band packing out local music venues on the road to main stage glory.
All gigs are free and are all timed to run simultaneously across one evening.
